Crows

Crows are highly intelligent and very chatty problem solvers. These amazing birds with their glossy black feathers also understand basic counting and are happy to hang out in towns and cities as well as the countryside.
Here's some fun facts about crows:
-
Crows have excellent memories and can recognise human faces. If you’re kind to a crow, it may remember you and might even bring you a gift!
-
If a crow is annoyed by someone, it can remember that person's face for years, as well as tell its friends and family about them.
-
Crows love to talk to each other and make a loud ‘caw’ sound to warn about danger or to call their friends.
-
Crows can solve complex problems and use twigs as tools, as well as work together to solve puzzles. Such as dropping objects into water to raise the level.
-
Crows eat almost anything they can find - fruits, nuts, seeds, insects, and even human food.
-
A group of crows is called a flock or a murder.

How Your Family Can Help Crows
Crows get thirsty and love to clean their feathers so a shallow dish of fresh water in the garden will be welcomed. Remember to rinse it out every day to keep it safe and free of germs.
You can put out a healthy crow snack of unsalted nuts, seeds or fruit. Use only small amounts of food and put out early in the morning, then clear away anything left before dusk to discourage other critters. Remember to never feed crows junk food or bread!
Crows are brave but very cautious so when you give them food, put it on the ground where they can see all around them. Then you can watch them from a distance or through a window without scaring them away.
